Perineoplasty repairs the perineum, the tissue between the vaginal opening and anus. It may address childbirth-related scarring or tissue damage. It focuses on the vaginal opening and perineum rather than the internal vaginal canal.
Who may be suitable?
A specialist assesses symptoms, previous childbirth injuries and pelvic-floor function. Physiotherapy or another treatment may be preferable. The intended benefit and alternatives should be discussed before deciding on surgery.
What the procedure involves
- Planning: Agree the area and extent of repair.
- Repair: Under local or general anaesthesia, the surgeon removes selected scarred tissue, repairs supporting tissues as needed and closes the incision with stitches.
- Discharge: The care team decides whether a day case or overnight observation is appropriate.
What to Expect in Lahore
- Arrival and consultation — typically Day 1: Discuss your goals with the treating specialist. An examination takes place with your consent. Confirm any tests, anaesthetic assessment, treatment scope and written quotation.
- Procedure — after assessment: The proposed itinerary assumes day-case treatment. Confirm the actual admission plan with your surgeon; any overnight stay would change the estimate.
- Local recovery and review: The proposed stay allows 8 days in Lahore and 7 hotel nights for assessment, treatment and initial follow-up. Receive written care instructions and arrange a review before departure.
- Return travel and ongoing support: The surgeon assesses readiness to travel. A longer stay may be needed. Arrange continued follow-up at home; the Lahore stay does not represent full recovery.
Recovery and risks
Recovery commonly takes 6–8 weeks. Follow your surgeon’s advice on wound care and activity; vaginal intercourse is generally avoided for at least six weeks. Risks include bleeding, infection, scarring, altered sensation, painful intercourse and further surgery. Seek medical advice for heavy bleeding, fever, increasing pain or wound problems.
