What is Scar Revision Surgery?
Scar revision surgery improves the appearance, texture, and mobility of scars resulting from previous surgery, trauma, or burns. While no scar can be erased completely, plastic surgical techniques replace wide, depressed, or poorly aligned scars with fine, flat lines concealed within the body’s natural skin creases (relaxed skin tension lines) and release tight tissue bands that restrict movement.
Surgical Options
Fusiform Excision & Layered Closure: Complete excision of a widened or depressed scar followed by meticulous multi-layer deep dermal suturing to remove surface tension and produce a hairline scar.
Geometric Rearrangement (Z-Plasty & W-Plasty): Breaks up straight, high-visibility, or contracted scars into fine angled segments that blend into surrounding skin contours and lengthen tight scar bands across joints or facial features.
Keloid & Hypertrophic Scar Excision: Core excision of raised, thickened scar tissue combined with intra-operative corticosteroid therapy and pressure dressings to minimise recurrence.
Subcision & Autologous Fat Grafting: Releases tethered, indented scars from underlying tissue and places micro-fat grafts beneath the skin to restore a smooth surface contour.
What to Expect in Lahore
Consultation & Scar Assessment (Day 1–2): Detailed clinical evaluation with your consultant plastic surgeon to assess scar maturity, vascularity, skin tension, and anatomical location, alongside pre-anaesthetic checks.
The Procedure (Day 2): Performed in 45 to 90 minutes under local anaesthesia with intravenous sedation (or general anaesthesia for extensive contractures or complex reconstructions). Most patients are discharged to their hotel the same day; complex flap or graft cases may stay 1 night in hospital.
Recovery & Suture Removal (Day 3–7): Mild localised swelling and bruising resolve within a few days. Fine facial sutures are typically removed on post-op day 5 to 6 (or absorbable subcuticular sutures are reviewed), and you will be fitted with silicone gel sheeting and scar maturation instructions before your flight home.
